The tears of a clown

For the first time in recent summer memory, it seemed like it might just possibly be a day without rain.
At 6 o'clock I go and give the pigs their evening feed, and gaze out at the grey, grumbling clouds over the hill. I can't feel any wet in my hair or on my face, but there on a stone by my foot is a large splash; a harbinger of a battalion of splashes.
Even the ducks are fed up with being permanently damp.

North west Scotland has been remarkably dry. The clouds have been all rained out by the time they get here.

No doubt we will pay for this later. Average rainfall must be maintained.

We really thought we were going to get a whole dry day today. When we went out with the dogs at 8pm, it was still dry and there was no sign of the armada of smails that have been crossing the path most evenings.

However, by 10.15pm it was raining again. *Sigh*

We knew the rain was coming - we were watching Cricket on the TV - Somerset versus Gloucestershire. Somerset had a massive total thanks to Trescothick giving Glos a hard task. The rain stopped play in Somerset about 6pm - we knew it would not be long before reaching us in North Wilts. Today we have had 7mm according to my rain gauge - our lawn is soggy and Husband is thinking about cancelling golf!

What a great picture! We've been as soaked as you I think. Quite dreadful...

Most of the day was fine - so blessings for that. But then torrential.

Love your 'splash' - better appreciate things when we can.

I've probably mentioned my liking for ducks.
The expression 'lovely weather for ducks' is quite wrong.
I am convinced that they hate the rain.

What an excellent photo: a picture of the sun by the rain. You should enter it into a competition.

Hey Mopsa, have you seen this? (Thought it was 1 April for a moment) http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article4547604.ece

WW, I had seen the piece on Dexters - and in particular the hilariously worrying response to this by the brilliant Stonehead (see here).

Garfer - but the average keeps going up!
Jay - it hasn't rained today! (yet)
Lindsay - I'm happy if rain stops all sports.
Fpot, WW & M'ear - thank you - it was happenstance.
Kaz, the ducks like a bit of rain and seem to enjoy a Scottish mist, so to speak, but it's been torrential.

Hi Mopsa - I've sent you a tag

You know I really love this photo. It's strong and simple - ironical too as the rain drop is a blazoning sun!

Oh I have webbed feet now after two flippon wet and rained out summers. I said to my husband that it would be another bad summer way back and he didn't agree. Just something about that time I said it made me think we were in for another abysmal summer. I miss sunny days, butterflies, birds tweeting and drinks on the lawn. I feel like moving but I don't want to live abroad. If I were wealthy I'd get in my lear jet and fly to the nearest hot destination and just follow the sun!

I don't know about the ducks being damp, but I am sick of having frizzy hair.

This wet weather is playing havoc with everything.
