The naming of cats

My wonderful old cat had to be put to sleep a couple of months back. He was very ill but had been chirpy and content til the last handful of hours when it was finally time to intervene. I had hoped to find him permanently asleep on his cushion, but he just wouldn't drift off on his own, and he was clearly feeling really bad. They say you know when it's time, and I did.
He was buried in the orchard under a beautiful thriving cherry tree, and he frequently gets chatted to as we walk past.
The farm needs cats - rodent patrol is essential - and anyway, the house needs more than one cat to keep the dogs on their mettle.
There has been a trip to the Cats Protection League and two tabby boys, six weeks old and orphaned when their mother was run over, have been chosen. They should arrive in the next week or two.
Now it's just a question of names. Bill and Ben, Boris and Ken, Fish and Chips, Laurel and Hardy, Frost and Duffy, Tom and Sam, the possibilities go on and on. Any suggestions?

Lenny and Henry, Filthyrich and Catflap, Balderdash and Piffle, Plato and Socrates, Bestie and Charlton, Morrisey and Marr, Mick and Keef, Abercrombie and Fitch, Westlife and Boyzone.

Any of these would be a fine combo for the two mouseketeers.

Teacake and crumpet, cream and jam, bread and butter, life and death....
Fantastic - and a number resonant with my own ramblings! Keep 'em coming... Any twin suggestions (no, not Arnie and Danny)?

What about Dumbledore and McGonagall?

Blimey - there's enough choice for a veritable herd of kittens - I now know how to name calves!

They're ridiculously appealing though...

My cat looked just like this as a kitten - he was Eric (there's a post about him somewhere). So - Eric 'n Ernie?
Though I do like the Morrisey and Marr suggestion from Garfer.

I to had to take Eric to the vet at the end.
A horrid experience.

Sorry everyone, it's just got to be Slap and Tickle.

If they were mine I'd call them Eff 'n Elle, probably.

Sorry about your older cat. It's terrible when you have to make this sort of decision.
But what cuties these are! I like WW's first suggestion!

This is briliant - more please!

Paula - it's a highly recommended ploy.

Kaz - I asked the vet to come here and Smudge didn't even have to move off his favourite cushion. It was worth it.

Or (on the theme of Hengist and Horsa) how about Stuff and Wightga? They're real Anglo-Saxons, honest!

I would be honoured if you would call one of those lovely little cats Boris. Not after that blonde haired numbskull who has become the Mayor of London but after our Boris - a straycat we loved and cared for for eight years until he disappeared a month ago.

You could call the other one Oscar after my very first cat. Boris and Oscar. The dynamic duo!

they are just lovely Mopsa. A friend of mine recently lost her elderly cat and has also ended up with two kittens. Aren't they just wonderful? I love vest and pants!!

They're beautiful! We got two little kittens (sisters) 4 months ago and decided to wait to name them to see what their personalities were like. Straight away one was called Pickle as she was eager to explore to the verge of trouble. The other took a bit longer but in the end we plumped for Belle as she's very pretty.
Although I love vest & pants...genius!

Dido and Aeneas.

...I'm hopeless at naming things. (Hence sons Tom, Dan and Harry - except I do quite like their names.)
