three's a crowd...

Remember when I said I'd had the ewes scanned and breathed a huge sigh of relief that only one was due to have triplets? Well, scanner man nil, ewe three.
This is the first ewe to lamb - last night, just before midnight. She was due to have twins, but had three, just like she did last year. And she was first to drop again, too.
So now it's up to the orchard every couple of hours to see what's happening, who's getting restless, dribbling mucus or looking like she's got a pain in the guts or has a head or foot poking out of her bum.
What larks. Rather them than me. All I have to do is get up at 5am for the next month.

They are soooo sweet! (What are you going to call them?)

Now, now, WW - you can't name something you're going to eat!

Well done that ewe.....

I agree about not naming one's potential food - the broilers - all 10 of them - will remain anonymous.

I hope you grow plenty of mint!

M'ear - but they won't taste anonymous - they'll be delish

SS - it grows wild here and irritatingly, the stuff I try to grow, won't! But we don't eat it all ourselves - it will be for sale.

Oh wow, you've started, exhaustion time. I'll come bearing soothing drinks and foods.

And as for that scan man....

Good luck with it all, at least while you're getting up before you've gone to bed and working all sorts of unsociable hours you can think of those cheeky MPs (thanks for visiting by the way)languishing in their publically subsidised beds, all paid for by the likes of you and me.

Bah!

it'l be interesting to see hwo accurate the scan proves to be over all. Its seems theres is a tendency for the ones that have trips to do so again.. and their daughters..
but saying that - ours that did last year had twins this year.
smug as our lambing window has closed. good luck!(and get into some easy fiction to soothe the brain..)

Aw sweet! A sprig of rosemary and a little seasoning, cooked nice and slow in a moderate oven till the meat falls off the bone. You can't beat a nice bit of lamb.

Welshcakes, Fpot - thank you - it's ok for the first week and by week 4 I am VERY ratty..the lambing is lovely, it's the tiredness and putting everything else on hold that hurts!

SM - perhaps Jacqui Smith would like to send her husband her for some hard labour?

Paula, CIG - the next 6 ewes have been as scanned - we'll see....

YP - it's a bit early for that - hardly a mouthful.
